Smart Blinds & Curtains

Motorised blinds and curtains that open with the sunrise and close at dusk — wired into a renovation or retrofitted battery-powered with no cabling at all. Silent motors, precise fit, controlled by app, voice or schedule.

The service

What we deliver

Motorised blinds and curtains are the upgrade people don't expect to love — until the living room closes itself at dusk and the bedroom opens gently with the morning light. They're also a genuine security feature, making the house look convincingly lived-in while you're away.

We fit both wired systems (ideal during renovation) and battery retrofit motors that need no cabling at all, on almost any window shape — including bays, roof windows and floor-to-ceiling glazing.

What's included

  • Motorised roller, venetian and roman blinds
  • Curtain tracks with whisper-quiet motors
  • Battery retrofit options with no wiring
  • Sunrise, sunset and temperature-based automation
  • Integration with lighting scenes and voice control
  • Child-safe, cord-free operation throughout

From brief to delivery

Motorised window treatments need accurate measuring, suitable power and a fabric or blind system that moves consistently

We coordinate the decorative treatment with the motor, track, power source and control method so automation does not compromise how the curtain or blind looks when stationary.

What we resolve before work starts

Window size, recess depth, stack-back space, fabric weight, privacy and blackout requirements all influence the motorised solution. The control strategy is chosen after the physical treatment has been resolved.

  • Accurate window and recess measurements
  • Blind or curtain type, fabric weight and stack-back requirements
  • Mains, low-voltage or battery power strategy
  • Wall, app, voice and schedule control preferences
  • Grouping by façade, room, privacy or solar-exposure needs

What a proper handover should include

Every treatment should travel cleanly, stop consistently and remain easy to operate manually or locally where the selected product allows it.

  • Open, close and intermediate positions checked on each blind or curtain
  • Limits and preferred presets configured
  • Remote, app or wall controls labelled and demonstrated
  • Charging or battery-maintenance requirements explained where relevant
  • Fabric care and track-access information provided where supplied

Delivery sequence

How this service moves from idea to finished work

01

Measure & treatment choice

We define the decorative solution and physical clearances before specifying motors.

02

Power & control plan

Power routes, receivers and grouping logic are coordinated with the room and any wider smart-home system.

03

Installation

Tracks, blinds, motors and controls are fitted and aligned so the treatment moves without snagging.

04

Programming

Schedules, groups and preferred positions are configured and demonstrated in the room.

Why it is worth planning properly

Automation is most useful where windows are large, repeated or difficult to reach

Consistent privacy

Groups can close together at a chosen time instead of relying on several separate manual adjustments.

Control of glare and daylight

Scheduled or scene-based positions can help manage strong sun without keeping a room permanently dark.

Cleaner large-window operation

Motorisation avoids pulling unevenly on wide or heavy treatments and can simplify tall or inaccessible windows.

Key decisions

What shapes the scope

Curtain versus blind, blackout level, fabric, lining, track position, power source, wall controls, grouping and desired schedules all affect the design. If the room is being renovated, power should be planned before plastering and decoration.

Budget & programme

What usually moves cost or timing

Window size, fabric, bespoke tracks, motor type, control hardware, concealed power preparation and number of independent zones are the main variables. Battery retrofits can avoid wiring but introduce charging or replacement maintenance.

Why it pays off

What you gain

Silent, scheduled shading

Blinds and curtains glide open with sunrise and close at dusk, quietly and on schedule, with no cords or wands in sight.

Protects rooms and privacy

Automated shading tempers glare and summer heat, shields fabrics and artwork from strong sun, and closes reliably for privacy after dark.

Made to measure

Every blind and track is measured and made for your windows, in fabrics chosen to suit the room, including bays, skylights and awkward shapes.

How it works

Three steps, no surprises

01

Measure and fabric selection

We survey each window, talk through blackout, privacy and light needs room by room, and help you choose fabrics and finishes to suit the interior.

02

Fitting and power

Tracks and blinds are fitted precisely, with power run discreetly during the install or quiet battery motors where wiring is not practical.

03

Automation and tuning

We set schedules and scenes, link everything to your app and voice control, and adjust limits so each blind sits perfectly every time.

Sound familiar?

Asked for every week

Tell us which windows you want automated and whether the priority is privacy, blackout, glare control or convenience. We will design the treatment first and the automation around it.

  • Motorised roller blinds across a glazed rear kitchen extension
  • Automated curtain tracks for full-height sash windows
  • Battery-powered smart blinds fitted without redecorating
  • Blackout blinds in children's rooms on bedtime and sunrise schedules
  • Roof-lantern and skylight blinds controlled from an app
  • Curved tracks for bay-window curtains in a period sitting room

Good to know

Common questions

How long do battery motors last between charges?

Typically six months to a year of normal daily use, depending on blind size and usage. The app warns you well before a recharge is needed, and charging takes a couple of hours.

Can you automate awkward windows?

Almost always — bay windows, skylights, arched and floor-to-ceiling glazing all have motorised solutions. We measure and specify on a site visit rather than guessing from photographs.
